Value Added Tax

I hate VAT. Well, not really — value-added taxes are probably a better solution to the problem of taxing consumption of goods and services than are general sales taxes. Here’s why I hate EU VAT:

• VAT country codes are not the same as ISO country codes. Greece is EL in VAT coding, but GR in ISO coding
• Under the MOSS regime, applying the UK VAT threshold while being correct about VAT rates in other countries is very difficult
